Head of Internal Medicine SubspecialitiesShe is a Senior Consultant and Head of Internal Medicine Subspecialities and Deputy of Directorate of Internal Medicine at the Royal Hospital in Muscat, Oman, where she Chairs both the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee and the Infection Prevention and Control Committee. She is a member of a number of National Committees and task forces in the Ministry of Health, Oman. She completed her medical school training with honors at the Sultan Qaboos University in Oman in 1993. Following her completion of a residency program in Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, USA in 1999, she completed two fellowships programs both in Infectious Diseases and in Medical Microbiology at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. She has authored several publications in scientific journals and has received several research awards including the National Research Award in 2021. She is editor in a number of scientific journals such as Oman Medical Journal. Her main research interests include respiratory viral infections, infections in immunocompromised patients, including those with HIV, antimicrobial Stewardship and SARS-CoV-2.

She added an Msc-HealthCare Management (RCSI-Bahrain) & IHI Fellowship (Institute of Healthcare Improvement & Hamad Medical Corporation) in 2015 to her list of educational achievements which includes MBBS (KFU-KSA,1997), Certification Arab Board Medical Specialization-Internal Medicine (CABMS-Internal Medicine-Syria,2002), Certification of Complete HMC-Infectious Disease Fellowship Training Program (HMC-IDFTPQatar,2006). Apart from clinical responsibilities, she also holds various administrative and academic positions in & outside HMC, namely Vice Chairperson for Quality and Patient Safetyâ Medicine, Fellowship Program Director for Infectious Diseases, Associate Program Director for Transitional Year and also as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q). In 2010. She was appointed Chairperson of the Medical Research Committee and Vice-Chairperson of Medical Research Center.

I have Completed Saudi board training in internal medicine in KSA in 2015, followed by higher training in Dublin to obtain the RCPI (Royal college of physicians of Ireland) fellowship in infectious diseases in 2019. Academic activities involve Teaches undergraduate students at RCSI-MUB in microbiology department Currently covering infectious diseases services at BDF hospital and working extensively with infection control unit. I have a special interest in antimicrobial stewardship and multi-drug resistance organisms.
