Welcome to the Bahrain Diabetes and Obesity Conference (BDOC), held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa. This inaugural event underscores our commitment to women’s healthcare, supported by the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
BDOC serves as a key platform for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), emphasizing advocacy and health promotion. Since its foundation in 1989, the Bahrain Diabetes Society has focused on diabetes education and enhancing healthcare structures. Our partnership with the International Diabetes Federation has advanced both local and regional healthcare.
In response to rising obesity rates, the conference prioritizes effective prevention and management strategies. Sessions will address diabetes care for children and workshops on diabetic foot care for the elderly.
A notable highlight is the launch of an Arabic book on hyperglycemia during pregnancy, aimed at educating women and healthcare providers across the Middle East and North Africa. This resource will be available online for free, reflecting our dedication to accessible education.
Thank you to our organizing committee and all participants. I wish you a rewarding experience at BDOC as we work to improve healthcare for those living with diabetes.
